Rebecca Gilpin

Overview
I paint because I want to try and elevate painting to the same level as music. I want my work to move people in the same way music does.

Rebecca Gilpin is an abstract painter renowned for her large-scale works that delve into the emotional and spiritual dimensions of color and form. Employing soak-staining techniques on unprimed canvas, she merges bold gestures with curated palettes inspired by music, movement, and human experience. Her practice balances spontaneity and precision, drawing upon the physicality of painting to create abstract forms that convey both energy and introspection. Gilpin's works often reference music, song lyrics, and emotional landscapes, resulting in pieces that resonate with viewers on multiple levels.

She holds an MA in Fine Art from Oxford Brookes University and has exhibited her work in various notable venues. Her paintings are part of collections across Europe, the U.S., and Mexico, including a piece in the Chelsea and Westminster Hospital collection. Her solo exhibition, "96 Tears," at The Koppel Project, along with group shows in prominent UK galleries, has solidified her position in contemporary abstract painting. Through her exploration of abstraction, Gilpin captivates audiences by harmonizing form, emotion, and artistic process.
