Overview
Every question is an opportunity to explore.

Edwin Schlossberg (b. 1945) is an American artist, designer, and author whose five-decade career began in New York’s 1960s art scene. Known for blending language and visual media, his work merges poetic text with unconventional materials such as aluminum, plexiglass, and rice paper scrolls. While contemporaries like Jasper Johns and Robert Rauschenberg incorporated text as form, Schlossberg emphasized meaning—crafting visual poetry that engages both intellect and perception. His artwork has been exhibited at major institutions including the Museum of Modern Art and the Metropolitan Museum of Art. In 1977, he founded ESI Design, a groundbreaking studio for immersive, interactive environments. His notable design projects include the Ellis Island Family Immigration Center and the Edward M. Kennedy Institute. Schlossberg was awarded the National Arts Club Medal of Honor in 2004 for his contributions to design and innovation.
