Charley Peters
I’m interested in how we see through painting, it’s a medium that records its own history and at the same time, proposes possible futures.
Charley Peters is a London-based painter, writer, and curator exploring the intersection of hard-edged abstraction and digital media. Born in Birmingham, UK, she holds a PhD in Fine Art Theory and Practice, focusing on the spatial potential of painting.
Her work reflects the layered complexity of digital interfaces, using variations in color, tone, and scale to create illusions of depth and light. She mirrors the way we experience visual space in a post-digital world, where images are rapidly consumed and often dematerialized.
Peters has exhibited internationally at Saatchi Gallery, Hauser & Wirth, Z20 Sara Zanin Gallery (Rome), Yantai Art Museum, and the National Museum of Gdansk. She has collaborated with Meta/Facebook, House of Vans, and London Art Fair.
Beyond painting, Peters writes on abstract art for Instantloveland, Turps Banana, and A-N. She teaches as a visiting tutor at City & Guilds of London Art School and Senior Lecturer at University of the Arts London.
Her work investigates layering, opposition, and juxtaposition, reflecting the fragmented way we engage with space, material, and abstraction in today’s digital landscape.
