Art Talk: Kelcie Mack

About the Artist: Joining us this week is Kelcie Mack, an American painter who explores the intimate, familiar connections we hold with objects and their makers. Mack is interested in interactions between negative space and the object, manipulating space and dissecting the furniture into its key components. Through her work, she calls attention to the value of craftsmanship and the histories that exist within all objects. The paintings are personal as Mack considers her tender relationship with the subject and attempts to honor the ordinary by transforming recognizable elements of furniture into semi abstract compositions that highlight the complex beauty of design.
